Chao Maha Phutthavongsa Viraya[pan]nya from Vat Phonsaiyaramathipadi had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Thammapattha, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May wishes and desires come true. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna. Amen, amen!.
On one occasion, the Buddha along with his disciple was travelling from Savatthi toward Varanasi. On the way, the Buddha and the monks were resting near a religious place which was the golden stupa of Kassapa Buddha. At that time, there was also a man who was bowing down and worshiping the stupa, but did not offer ablutions and bow down the Buddha and monks. Because he believed that the stupa is more important. The Buddha then gave appriciations to him by saying that, “Brahmin, you have done good deeds by worshiping this place”. When all the monks heard the Buddha said like that, they became suspicious. Then the Buddha delivered a discourse on the worshiping the four groups of persons who should be worshiped and the three types of pagodas.
