Sòng hot refers to the rewards derived from the organization of Therabhiseka (pouring water on a senior monk). On one occasion, the Buddha was present at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi. At the time, King Pasenadi along with his followers came to the presence of the Buddha and offered the offerings with popped rice and flowers to the Buddha and then invited the Buddha and 80 monks to the watering ceremony. Thereafter, they offered alms to all the monks and observed the five and eight precepts. Later, King Pasenadi asked the Buddha that, any person who has the religious faith to water the monk, what benefits will he gain? The Buddha then gave a sermon on the merit derived from watering the monks to the king.
