ພະທໍຳມະບົດ (ບັ້ນປາຍ, ຜູກ ໑)

ທໍາມະບົດ ຫຼືທໍາມະປະທະ ເນື້ອໃນເປັນພາສາບາລີ ແປວ່າ ບົດແຫ່ງທໍາ ເປັນຊື່ຂອງຄໍາພີໜຶ່ງຂອງພະສຸດຕັນຕະປິດົກ ຂຸດທະກະນິກາຍ ເປັນພຸດທະພາສິດທີ່ພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າຕັດແກ່ບຸກຄົນຕ່າງໆ ຕ່າງກໍາ ຕ່າງວາລະ ຕ່າງສະຖານທີ່ ເປັນບົດທໍາສັ້ນໆ ໃນຮູບແບບຄາຖາ ປະພັນເປັນບົດຮ້ອຍກອງຫຼືບົດກະວີ. ທໍາມະບົດແຕ່ລະບົດເປັນສັດຈະທໍາແລະເປັນອະມະຕະວາຈາຂອງພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກເຈົ້າ. ໃນທໍາມະບົດນີ້ມີບົດທໍາ ໔໒໓ ບົດ, ຖ້ານັບເປັນເລື່ອງໆ ທີ່ພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າຕັດເຖິງ ມີຈໍານວນ ໓໐໒ ເລື່ອງ. ທໍາມະບົດນັ້ນ ມີຄວາມສໍາຄັນທຸກບົດ ຫາກໄດ້ນໍາມາເປັນແນວທາງໃນການທໍາຄວາມດີ ກໍ່ຈະໄດ້ຮັບປະໂຫຍດສົມດັ່ງປາດຖະໜາ. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: ລານທີ່ ໒໖ ໜ້າ ໑: ຈຸນລະສັງກາດຣາຊະໄດ້ ໑໐໖໖ (ກົງກັບ ຈສ. ໑໑໖໖) ຕົວ ປີກາບໃຈ້ (ກາບໃຈ້) ເດືອນຍີ່ ອອກໃຫມ່ ໑໓ ຄໍ່າ ວັນ ໕ ຣິດຈະນາແລ້ວຍາມກອງງາຍ ໂຊນເຈົ້າປະທຸມມາວະດີຜູ້ເປັນມາຕາແລະເຈົ້າປະທຸມມາວະດີຣາຊະກຸມມາຣີ ຜູ້ເປັນທິຕາ ມີສັດທາເຫລື້ອມໃສໃນພຸດທະບາດສາສະໜາ ຈິ່ງພ້ອມກັນສ້າງ ພະທໍາມະບົດ ບັ້ນປາຍ ໒໐ ຜູ້ນີ້ ໄວ້ໂຊຕະນະສາສະໜາ ຕາບຕໍ່ເທົ້າ ໕໐໐໐ ພະວັດສາ ນິບພານະ ປັດຈະໂຍ ໂຫຕຸ.

Thammabot or Dhammapada with the whole text written in Pali means a word of the doctrine is the name of a scripture of Suttanta Pitaka Khuddaka Nikaya. The Dhammapadas are the Buddhist proverbs that the Buddha said to different people, different deeds, different agendas, and different places. They are short words of the doctrine in the form of verses composed as poems. Each of the Dhammapadas is the truth and is the immortal speech of the Buddha. There are 423 verses in the Dhammapada; if counted as the stories that the Buddha talked about, there are 302 stories. Every verse in the Dhammapada is important. It is used as a guideline for doing good deeds, it will benefit as desired. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Chunlasangkatrasa (CS) 1066 (corresponding with CS 1166), a kap chai year, the thirteenth day of the waxing moon of the second lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Son Chao Pathummavadi who is the mother and Chao Pathummavadi who is her daughter had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Pha thammabot banpai, 20 fascicles, in order to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
