Samantapāsādikā is a commentary on the Vinaya Pitaka. The text is written in the Nissaya style (word by word translations from Pali) used for Pali study in the higher level. Samantapāsādikā means "All pleasing" was written by Buddhaghosa in Sri Lanka in the 5th century. In brief, the content is divided into two types: (1) The main content related the Dhamma and Vinaya such as the cause of the first Buddhist Council, the second, 3rd and 4th. (2) There are explanations on the nine virtues of the Buddha, mindfulness, concentration, practice, mind, spirit, organic matter, and explanations of the Pārājika, Sanghadisesa, etc., both for monks and female monks. Colophon: Folio 1 on the verso side: In Chunlasangkat 182 (corresponding with CS [1]182), a kot si year, on the seventh day of the waning moon of the seventh lunar month, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), a poek san day. Akkhavòrarasakhuchao (Great Abbot) from Vat Phon Kaeo offered gold and silver to His Majesty King of the kingdom of Chanthaburi in order to sponsor the making of the manuscripts of Tipitaka and to support the Buddhist Teachings in Luang Prabang. The writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of the kòng ngai (between 7.30 - 9.00 o’clock).
