The Dhammapada of the return from Vesali. The Buddha along with five hundred monks returned Rajagaha from Vesali. The rulers, miniters and people of Vesali in a processsion sent the Buddha for five days to the bank of the Ganga River. With faithfulness, the nagas from the under world created magically the crystal boats, silver boats and golden boats and blossom flowers on the river for the Buddha and the monks. They then transformed themselves as young men invited the Buddha and monks visited their under world. In the coming morning the nagas offered alms-food to the Buddha and the monks. Thereafter, sent the Buddha and his disciples to another bank of the river. There, King Bimbisara welcomed the Buddha and took him five days to his kingdom of Rajagaha. In Rajagaha, the Buddha and his disciples stayed at Veluvana monastery. Colophon: Folio 26 on the verso side: Sangkat 168 (corresponding with CS 1168), a hwai nyi year, the fourth day of the waxing moon of the fourth lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), and a hwai chai day. The writing was accomplished at the fourth watch (between 03.00 – 06.00 o’clock). The royal king had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Thammabot (Dhammapada) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
