ທໍາມະປັດທະ (ມັດ ໓, ຜູກ ໒)

ນິທານທໍາມະບົດ ເລື່ອງ ພະອົງຄຸລິມານ. ໃນສະໄໝໜຶ່ງ ພະພຸດທະອົງຊົງປະທັບຢູ່ວັດເຊຕະວັນ ເມືອງສາວັດຖີຊົງປາລົບເລື່ອງພະອົງຄຸລິມານເຖລະ. ພະເຖລະບວດໃນສໍານັກພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າແລ້ວບັນລຸພະອໍຣະຫັນ ເມື່ອທ່ານປະຣິນິບພານແລ້ວ ພິກຂຸທັງຫລາຍໄດ້ທູນຖາມພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າວ່າ ພະອົງຄຸລິມານເຖລະໄປເກີດຢູ່ໃສ? ພະພຸດທະອົງຕັດຕອບວ່າວ່າ “ພິກຂຸທັງຫຼາຍ ບຸດຂອງເຮົາປະຣິນິບພານແລ້ວ”. ພິກຂຸທັງຫຼາຍຈຶ່ງທູນຖາມອີກວ່າ “ພະອົງຄຸລິມານຂ້າຄົນເປັນຈໍານວນຫຼວງຫຼາຍ ສາມາດປະຣິນິບພານໄດ້ບໍ່?” ພະພຸດທະອົງຈຶ່ງຕັດວ່າ “ພິກຂຸທັງຫຼາຍ ເພາະອົງຄຸລິມານນັ້ນບໍ່ໄດ້ກັນລະຍານະມິດ ຈຶ່ງໄດ້ທໍາບາບໃນການກ່ອນ ແຕ່ພາຍຫຼັງ ທ່ານໄດ້ກັນລະຍານະມິດເປັນປັດໄຈ ຈຶ່ງເປັນຜູ້ບໍ່ປະມາດ ເຫດນັ້ນ ບາບກໍ່ານັ້ນ ທ່ານລະໄດ້ແລ້ວດ້ວຍກຸສົນ”. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: ລານທີ່ ໒໖ ໜ້າ ໑: ສັງກາດ ໑໗໒ (ກົງກັບ ຈສ. ໑໑໗໒) ປີກົດສະງ້າ ເດືອນ ໑໑ ຂຶ້ນ ໖ ຄໍ່າ ວັນ ໕ ມື້ເປິກໃຈ້ ຍາມແຖທ່ຽງວັນ. ບຸຣົມມະສົມເດັດ ບໍຣົມບຸບພີ ສີສັດຕະນາຄາຣາຊະກະນິດຖາ ຊົງພະຣາຊະສັດທາສ້າງທໍາໄວ້ສືບສາສະໜາແລ. ທໍາມະປັດຖະ ມັດ ໓ ຜູກ ໒ ວັງໜ້າ.

The Dhammapada story of Angulimala Thera. On one occasion, while residing at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke about Angulimala Thera. Angulimala Thera was ordained by the Buddha. Later, he attained aranhantship. After the Venerable passed away, other bhikkhus asked the Buddha where Angulimala was reborn, and when the Buddha replied "My son has realized parinibbana". So they asked him whether it was possible that a man who had killed so many people could have realized parinibbana. The Buddha replied, "Bhikkhus! Angulimala had done much evil because he did not have good friends. But later, he found good friends and through their help and good advice he had been steadfast and mindful in his practice of the dhamma. Therefore, his evil deeds have been overwhelmed by good. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Sangkat 172 (corresponding with CS 1172), a kot sanga year, on the sixth day of the waxing moon of the eleventh lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), and a poek chai day. [The writing of this manuscript] was accomplished in late morning (between 10.30–12.00 o’clock). His majesty the king of Sisattanakharahutta Nusuvannaphumintha kingdom had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript to support the Teachings of the Buddha.
