On one occasion, while residing at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha gave a sermon on the merit derived from making the manuscripts of the Tipitaka (the three baskets) to Sariputta Thera who came to the presence of the Buddha and asked the Buddha about this. The Buddha said that any women or men who have the ardent religious faith made the manuscripts of the Buddha’s teachings in order to support the Teachings of the Buddha will gain great merit incalculably. Their wishes will come true in any aspects. After death, they will be reborn in the heaven as king of the gods (Indra). Thereafter, they will reborn again in the human wolrd as emperors for many existences. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat one thousand 2505 (corresponding with CS 1255), a kap sanga year, on the second day of the waxing moon of the fifth lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), [the writing was accomplished] at the time of kòng thiang (between 10.30–12.00 o’clock). Sao Onta and all her children had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript-bundle entitled Lam Pitaka, a total of five fascicle and one of Pannya Parami to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I achieve all my wishes and desires. May we all enter the crystal city of Nirvana definitely. Nibbāna paranaṃ sukhaṃ. Chao Khanan Phommapannya is the scribe. May I share with much merit.
