Pha Chao Nipphan or the passing away of the Buddha. In the seventh years after his enlightenment, the Buddha ascended to stay in Tāvatiṃsa heaven for the Buddhist Lent. There, the Buddha delivered sermons on seven chapters of Abhidhamma (higher doctrine) to Indra and all the devas in order to give his return to his mother Sirimahamaya who was reborn as a deity in Tusita heaven. After having finished his duty, the Buddha descened to the world at Sangkassa city on the day of the end of the Buddhist Lent. Thereafter the Buddha travelled to small villages and big cities for dissemination of his teachings. The Buddha passed away at the age of 80 years old and entered Nirvāna. Mothe Nun Pan from the temple of Vat Xiang Maen had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Phra Phuttha Nipphan to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I reach the three states of happiness with Nirvana as the ultimate goal. May my wishes not be ignored. Nibbāna paccayo hotu me niccaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for me to reach Nibbāna, constantly and certainly).
