Minutes of Legislative Council Records, 1850-1950

These records comprise minutes of the legislative council from 1850 to 1950 (no records digitized from 1895 to 1926). The Legislative council was chaired initially by the President (until 1873) and later by a commissioner (appointed by the governor of Jamaica). The Legislative council was responsible for the passing of legislation in the islands, for determining the island’s budget. The council met in the council chambers at Government House in Grand Turk. The minutes are in large bound volumes (except for 1926 – 1950).
