Despatches to the Governor-in-Chief

These records comprise Despatches to the Governor of Jamaica dating from 1849 to 1860 from the President of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Government House, Grand Turk. The Turks and Caicos Islands where a part of The Bahamas until 1848 when the inhabitants successfully petitioned to be made a separate colony governed by a council president under the supervision of the governor of Jamaica. These despatches provide a comprehensive record the various Governmental affairs of the Turks and Caicos Islands to the Jamaica Governor. The Despatches are large bound volumes.
