El Faro del Pilar was founded by Presbyter Teodoro Guevara Lindo with the purpose of "intensify the propaganda of Acción Católica (Catholic Action)", a sort of catholic movement ot the time (1941) and with the purpose of "elevate the cultural level of this neighborhood" in Leon, northwestern of the country, in the Pacific of Nicaragua, that historically has been home of liberal factions.
