Extent: This is a collection of 74 regional newspapers containing near 5,299 editions and more than 21, 985 images.

Condition of original material: Some of the pages are incomplete and others are broken in the middle of the page. But in general, the collection contains very legible newspapers editions.

Custodial history: These newspapers, like all the serial publications that are part of IHNCA-UCA’s newspaper library, are organized in alphabetical order and then by chronological order. The unbound newspapers editions are also organized in that way and are preserved in cabinets instead of shelves as in the case of the bound newspaper editions.

Arrangement: All newspapers included in the EAP1371 project are property of the Institute of History of Nicaragua and Central America at Central American University in Managua (IHNCA-UCA). Throughout almost a century these newspapers editions have been collected by the Society of Jesus, to which this University belongs, and also by natural persons that have donated them to IHNCA-UCA. Throughout decades, the Institute has preserved these newspapers for their future digitisation and dissemination.
