La Prensa is the main daily newspaper of Nicaragua. It has circulated since 1926. Founded by the Chamorro family, its Director Pedro Joaquín Chamorro Cardenal was killed in 1978, an event that catalyzed protests that contributed to the end of the Somoza regime in 1979.
