This collection contains Portuguese manuscript documents from the Church of Santa Rita do Rio Negro (Duas Barras) in the city of Cantagalo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It consists of baptismal records of enslaved, freed (forro), and free individuals dating from 1843 to 1890. Custodial history: The volumes were produced by the church of Santa Rita do Rio Negro (Duas Barras). In accordance with local custom and Canonical Law, all documentation of a permanent nature produced by the Parish is transferred to the Archive of the Archdiocese of Niterói after 70 years.
