Maktūb fī al-wa‘ẓ wa al-irshād: Sermon

In this manuscript, the author displays the different fields of science one should master to qualify as an expert of the Qur'an ranging from theology, grammar, Islamic laws, Hadith (the Prophetic statements), science of religion. He offers some advice regarding certain attitudes a Muslim should adopt such as: sincerity in performing worship, patience, showing gratitude to Allah. He warns against others such as: selfishness and arrogance. He talks about the succession of the Prophet Muhammad by Abubakr and the first speech the latter held before the Muslims.
