Image (Melong) size 770 x 485 mm. Full mounted size 1280 x 610mm. Age, perhaps 150 years old. Date suggested by the owner. A narrative thangka of Nangsa Od’bum with green Tara figure in the centre. Condition excellent for a a Buchen thangka of its age. It has not been used heavily and is no longer in regular use. Little sign of staining or tears, slight wear from being rolled up. Brought back from Purang in Western Tibet by Meme Gatuk prior to 1959. One Thangka.
The material is owned by Tsering Paljor and has been handed down from father to son through several generations of head Buchen. All the materials in the archive are kept within the prayer room of the house. The team was given an extremely short time to photograph the archive, consequently the photography was rather rushed and we concentrated on the thangkas and the wooden printing block. Several obects that has been surveyed during the previous fieldtrip were not photographed.
