Common Title Padma Odbar (?): a narrative thangka illustrating the story of Padma Odbar Early 19th century

Age, perhaps 100 years old. Thangka 1140 x 640 mm overall. Melong (image size) 940 x 580 (vertical measurement very imprecise as condition very poor). The thangka is made from hand made paper rather than cloth and has not survived the process of being repeatedly rolled up and unfurled very well. Old and very damaged, in ribbons in places but still readable and not particularly faded. It has a central image of Padmasabhava (Guru Rinpoche) and probably shows the story of Pema Odbar. One Thangka.

The material is owned by Tsering Paljor and has been handed down from father to son through several generations of head Buchen. All the materials in the archive are kept within the prayer room of the house. The team was given an extremely short time to photograph the archive, consequently the photography was rather rushed and we concentrated on the thangkas and the wooden printing block. Several obects that has been surveyed during the previous fieldtrip were not photographed.
