Chulaphon (Culabon) or Culavana the sixth episode with 35 verses in a total of 13 episodes of the Vessantara Jataka. Chulaphon means a small forest. The content tells Jujaka was walking directly to Mount Vamka for bagging the two kumaras, Jali and Kanha from Prince Vessantara. On his way, Jujaka met Jetaputta hunter. When he was chasing by the hunter dogs, he climbed a tree. Then Jujaka was able to trick the huntsman. Saying that he was the royal emissary to invite Prince Vessantara return home and held up a pepper box that was a royal herald. The hunter trusted him easily and pointed the way to Mount Vamka through the hermitage of Acuta hermit. Colophon: Fascicle 17 on the recto side: Sisumangkhala Sangkatrasa (CS) 1292, a kot sanga year, on the third day of the waxing moon of the third lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kong ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). They jointly sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Lam Phavet (Preaching on Vessantara) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May the results of this merit be a condition for Nirvana and to cut the five obstacles off, and to reach Nirvana as our wishes. May I obtain Arahantship. May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, constantly and certainly.
