Dānakhanda the third episode of the Vessantara Jataka. Before Vessantara left Sivi kingdom, he donated “sattasadaka mahadāna” (donation of 7 things, 700 each). Then, he left the kingdom with Queen Maddi, son, Jali and daughter Kanha directing to the Himavan forest. Along the way, a group of paupers came and asked for the royal carriage and horse. He gave them. Finally both of them carried their son and daughter and continued their way by foo to the Himavan forest. Colophon: Fascicle 19 on the recto side: Chunlasangkatrasa (CS) 1286, a kap chai year, on the fifth day of the waxing moon of the sixth lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kong ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Phia Phaibun Savat or Thit Pheng and his wife Nang Phia Buddi together with all their children and grandchildren from Pa Kham village had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Maha Vesantarasadok (Vessantara Jataka) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May the results of this merit support us through this life and the future lives, definitely. May the results of this bring us across the round of rebirths and cut the five obstacles off, and to reach Nirvana as our wishes. May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana in the future.
