On one occasion Metteyya Bodhisatta was reborn as the son of King Ajatasattu and Queen Kancanadevi. The Bodhisatta was given a name as Ajita Kumara. Ajita was ordained as a novice when he was sixteen years old along with other 500 boys in accordance with their parents’ wish. Later became a monk named Ajita Thera. After his ordination, he received the valuable robes from Prajapati Gotami. Once, Prajapati Gotami the foster mother of the Buddha intentionally offered the valuable and fine robes to the Buddha. But the Buddha declined to accept and other bhikkhua rejected as well. Ajita, a new monk who sitted at the end of the line received the robes. The Buddha predicted that Monk Ajita is the Bodhisatta who will become the future Buddha. He was worthy and suitable for the robes.
