In the time of Kakusandha Buddha, King Pharanakhòn reigned the kingdom of Pharanakhòn. After listening to the sermon of the Buddha, the king became faithful in the teaching of the Buddha. He built about 4,000 almshouses around the city. Each house contains consumables including rice, water, and food to be alms for all the monks during the Lent for 3 months. At the time, our Gotama Buddha became a bhikkhu named Sisuraminthong. He took all the bhikkhus to collect almsfood at the royal palace regularly and gave sermons to the king and his ministers and servants to observe the five and eight precepts and practice only the good.
