The chronicle of the Phra That Phanom at Vat Phra That Phanom monastery in Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand. In the Buddha’s time, the Buddha accompanied with his attendant Ananda Thera to the region of Marukkhanakhon city. One day after meal, the Buddha spoke to Ananda about his prediction. Eight years and eight months after his passing away, one of his disciples named Maha Kassapa Thera would bring 24 pieces of his chest relics to install at Kampha Mountain in order to be a place of worship and respect for human beings and deities and to establish the teachings of the Buddha at the region as well. Colophon: Folio 11 on the recto side: Buddhist Era (BE) 2491, a poek chai year, on the tenth day of the waning moon of the first lunar month, Sunday, a hap pao day, [the writing was accomplished] at the time of kòng vat (between 15.00–16.30 o’clock). The initiator, Aunt Phan or Sao Thi and her husband from Ban Xiang Maen village together with all her children had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Tamnan That Phanom (Legend of Phaom stupa) to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May both of us husband and wife achieve all our desires and wishes. On the other hand, may the results of this merit be a condition for us to last until entering into Nirvana, definitely. Well done, well done. Nirvana is the greatest bliss, constantly and certainly. I am Thit Phui, head of the sub-district the scribe, may I rejoice with merit. Well done.
