Once upon a time, King Kalayaraja ruled the city of Champa. He had two concubines named Chanthadevi and Kawai. Later, Chanthadevi gave birth to two sons named Suriyavong and Hong Amat, both brothers were very intelligent. Queen Kawai became jealous and feared that the two sons would get all the inheritance. So she planned to goad the king until the king followed her and drove the two sons out of the city. Consequently, Queen Kavai also gave birth to a son named Xayathat who was disobedient. Prince Suriyavong traveled to Pancha and got married to Princess Pathuma, the daughter of the king of Pancha. On the other hand, Prince Hong Amat went to Varanasi and married Prince Pathumma, the daughter of King Suvannaphumma of Varanasi and Kharavi, the daughter of Mana, the rich man. Later, Prince Suriyavong and Prince Hongamat went back to Champa city. When they arrived in Champa, Queen Kawai incited the king not to accept the king's sons and let the soldiers come out to fight. But in the end, the king, Queen Kavai and Prince Xayathat were pumped by the earth. Prince Suriyavong and Prince Hong Amat then ruled the city of Champa and raised their mother.
