Somphūpati (Jambūpatti) tells about King Jambūpatti. In the Buddha's time, there was a powerful monarch who ruled the kingdom of Pancha named "King Jambūpatti. The king had 2 magical weapons. The first was a pair of the crystal shoes, when he put them on, he could fly in the air. The second was a magic arrow. If any kings who did not came to pay respect to the king, this arrow would go to hold the ear and bring him to the king. Therefore, many kings had feared in the power of King Jambūpatti. One day, the Buddha asked Indra to transform his body into an ambassador to invite King Jambūpatti to visit to the Buddha at the Jetavana monastery. When King Jambūpatti along with his followers saw the monastery, which the Buddha had turned into a beautiful city, he felt afraid. When the king met the Buddha, who changed his body as the Emperor God, he still had not finished his false view. So the Buddha asked him to show his strength until everything was exhausted, but he could not harm the Buddha. When the king lost all his powers, the Buddha delivered a sermon to him and explained the penalty of the round of rebirths, and the virtue of Nirvana. Finally, King Jambūpatti and his followers asked to be ordained as monks and later attained arahantship. Colophon: Folio 17 on the recto side: Mae Thit Bunma sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Sumphupati (Jambupati) to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition for Nirvana, the greatest bliss.
