The text mentions about the Sangayana or Saṅgīti (the first Buddhist Council) which started three months after the passing away of the Buddha and spent for seven months in completion. The Council was organized at the Sattapanni Cave in Rajagaha, attended with 500 arahants, and supported by King Ajatasattu. The Venerable Maha Kassapa was the president of the council. Venerable Upali was chosen to answer the Vinaya rules. Venerable Ananda was chosen to recite all the discourses. Colophons: (1) Folio 19 on the verso side: Phanya Si Mahanam is the sponsor to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition for me to reach Nibbāna certainly and constantly. (2) Folio 20 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat (CS) 1261, a kat khai year, the third day of the waxing moon of the second lunar month, a Sunday, a moeng khai day, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). Phu Nyai Si Mahanam and his wife, Nang Phia Khamphio from the village of Nakhum together with all their children, grandchildren, relatives and siblings had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript-bundle entitled Sangkhayana to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May our wishes and desires come true. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
