In the Buddha’s time, once Venerable Maha Moggallana lived in the mount of Gijjhakuta, he saw a ghost in a crow shape that was burning all the time. The ghost was big and tall and had a long tongue. So, Venerable Maha Moggallana asked that ghost, what kind of bad deed did you do to have the ability to be like that? The ghost answered that, during the time of Kassapa Buddha, it was born as a crow and took rice from the alms bowl of a monk to eat. After the death, it was born as the crow ghost. Colophons: (1) Folio 24 on the verso side: Dear lay mother, may I share with much merit, dear lay grandmother. The writing was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). May our wishes and desires come true. May this pure gift of mine be for Nibbāna which is the greatest bliss constantly and certainly.
