On one occasion, the Buddha along with his disciples went for collecting alms at the village of Kotikam. Sonuttara head of the village and villagers invited the Buddha and his disciples to have meal at their village. After meal, the Buddha gave his order to Venerable Bhaddaji Thera to play his power by lifting a castle from the Ganga River on air. Then Venerable Bhaddaji meditated and drove into the river. He lifted up a castle with his toes and erected it on air. When Sonuttara had seen the Venerable’s power and listened to the Dhamma preaching from the Buddha, he had the most ardent faith and wished to be ordained as a monk with a power like Venerable Bhaddaji Thera in the future. Colophon: Folio 1 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1222, a kot san year, the seventh day of the waxing moon of the tenth lunar month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), a poek set day, [the writing was accomplished] at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The king’s younger brother of the rear golden palace had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Lam upakhut luang, to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
