ທໍາມະປັດທະ (ມັດ ໘, ຜູກ ໖)

ນິທານທໍາມະບົດ ເລື່ອງ ກະດຸມພີສອງອ້າຍນ້ອງ. ໃນອະດີຕະການ ມີກະດຸມພີສອງທີ່ນ້ອງໃນນະຄອນພາຣານະສີ ເປັນເຈົ້າຂອງສວນອ້ອຍ. ວັນໜຶ່ງ ນ້ອງຊາຍໄດ້ໄປສວນອ້ອຍແລະຕັດອ້ອຍສອງລຳ ຄຶດວ່າ ລຳໜຶ່ງສຳລັບຕົນເອງແລະອີກລຳໜຶ່ງສຳລັບອ້າຍ. ຂະນະທີ່ເຂົາກັບມາແຕ່ສວນ ກໍ່ໄດ້ພົບກັບພະປັກເຈກກະພຸດທະເຈົ້າທີ່ຫາກໍ່ອອກຈາກສະມາບັດ. ພໍເຫັນພະປັດເຈກກະພຸດທະເຈົ້າ ກໍ່ມີຈິດເຫຼື້ອມໃສແລະໄດ້ຖວາຍອ້ອຍໃນສ່ວນຂອງຕົນແກ່ພະປັດເຈກ. ເມື່ອພະປັດເຈກ ສັນນ້ຳອ້ອຍໝົດແລ້ວ ຈິ່ງຖວາຍອ້ອຍລຳທີ່ສອງທີ່ເປັນຂອງອ້າຍ. ເຂົາໄດ້ນໍາຄວາມມາແຈ້ງແກ້ພີ່ອ້າຍເຊິ່ງພີ່ອ້າຍກໍ່ກ່າວອະນຸໂມທະນາ. ກະດຸມພີຜູ້ນ້ອງໄດ້ປາດຖະໜາເອົາຍັງມະນຸດສົມບັດ, ເທວະສົມບັດ ແລະຂໍບັນລຸທຳດັ່ງທີ່ພະປັດເຈກຕົນນັ້ນໄດ້ບັນລຸ. ສ່ວນຜູ້ອ້າຍຕັ້ງຄວາມປາດຖະໜາຂໍບັນລຸທໍາຢ່າງທີ່ພະປັດເຈກບັນລຸຢ່າງດຽວ.

The Dhammapada story of two brothers. In the past, two brothers in Pharanasi were the owners of the sugarcane farm. One day, the younger brother went to the sugarcane farm and cut two canes. Thinking, one would be mine, and another one for my brother. On his way back, he met a Private Buddha who had just finished his samapatti (attainment). Seeing the Private Buddha, he was faithful in him and offered the Buddha his sugarcane. After the Private Buddhist finished his eating the cane, then the younger brother also offered the Buddha, the cane for his brother. Later, he informed his brother which he rejoiced with. The younger brother wished to gain the worldly property, heavenly property and to attain enlightenment like the Private Buddha. The older brother wished to attain enlightenment like the Private Buddha only.
