The Dhammapada story of Sariputta Thera. When a Brahmin who was holding wrong view heard the Venerable Sariputta was a man of great patience and extreme endurance. If he was abused or even beaten by others, he did not lose his temper but remains calm and composed." The brahmin wanted to prove the Venerable. In a morning while the Venerable Sariputta was on his alms-round, the brahmin went after him and hit him hard on his back with his hand. The Venerable did not even look round to see who was the person that attacked him, but proceeded on his way as if nothing had happened. Seeing the magnanimity, the brahmin was very much shaken. He got down on his knees at the feet of the Venerable Sariputta, admitted that he had wrongfully hit the Venerable, and asked for his pardon. He then continued, "Venerable Sir, should you forgive me”. When the Venerable forgot him the Brahmin invited the Venerable, he said, “please kindly come to my house for alms-food”.
