The text tells about Abhidhamma, the higher doctrine which the Buddha preached in Tāvatiṃsa heaven, seven years after his enlightenment. Later, the Buddha explaind to Venerable Sariputta. The seven books of Abhidhamma consist of: 1. Saṅganī – enumeration of the Dhamma; 2. Vibhanga – analysis of the Dhamma; 3. Dhātukathā – discussion of elements; 4. Puggalapannatti – Description of Individual; 5. Kathāvattu – subjects of discussion; 6. Yamaka – book of pairs; and 7. Patthāna – book of relations. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat (CS) 1209, a moeng mot year, on the seventh day of the waxing moon of the eleventh lunar month, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), a kap san day, the writing was accomplished at the time of tut tang (between 6.00–7.30 o’clock). Chao (Prince) Khampahai together with his grandmother had the religious faith in the Teachings of the Buddha to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] 8 mün (Eighty thousand) to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna, constantly and certainly, the greatest bliss). May our wishes and desires come true.
