Prince Madrais Alibasa Manuscript No. 184

The manuscript No.184 is written in a set of loose folios. There are two sizes of paper; 33,7 x 21.5 cm and 35,4 x 21.5 cm. The condition of paper is brittle, perforated, torn, taped and yellowing. The ink penetrates to the reverse side, but the writing is still readable. In this manuscript, Prince Madrais writes the secret of his birth, how he taught his children, Tedjabuwana and Sukainten, in making batik and gave them advice to master any skills for life. He also describes the importance of conducting life with care of nature balance and the function of fire in Sunda religion; perfecting what is eat and drink, warming the body, lighting up the darkness, and as a sign of spirit. Then, he comments on the condition in society that many crime happened shows that the lesson at school is useless because people tend to leave the teachings from ancestor, ethicquete and rules of behavior. In addition, it is explained some rules of sale-purchase and debt-receivable.
