Aims and objectives
The Sociedad Protectora de la Infancia (the Child Protection Society) provided services to thousands of poor, abandoned and orphaned children in Chile since its foundation in 1894. This little-known endangered archive is an extraordinary source for the social, cultural and political history of childhood. The richness of this collection lies in the uniqueness of its documents and their potential contribution to research on education, the working class, the well-being of poor children and modern charitable associations.
