The Sim of Vat Ban Pak Chaek (Old village) is located on the left-side bank of U river, Pak U district, Luang Prabang province. It is far from Luang Prabang city in the north 50 Km. It is a temple of Tai Lue, was built in 1945, leading by Pha Khamfan Silasangvaro, Abbot of Vat Suvannakhili and Mr Mai Song, head of villager and villagers of Ban Pak Chaek. The big Buddha figure (See No. G5041) inside the Sim was built by Chanphan, Ban Vat Saen following the order of Pha Khamchan Virachitto, Abbot of Vat Saen Sukharam. Now it is a deserted temple because the villagers of Ban Pak Chaek move to settle down on the right-side bank of U river in 2005 and the monks and novices had to move.This photograph was taken by a Japanese monk, his name is Genso in 2004.
