Pha Maha Chansuk Panyapachoto [1937]

A studio portrait of Pha Maha Chansuk Panyapachoto from Vat Aphai, Luang Prabang in Phanom Penh, Cambodia in B.E.2480, A.D.1937. There is a dedication in hand writing on the verso of this photograph: "The picture of Pha Khru Chansuk Panyapachoto took in Phanom Penh while he was working in Cambodia in B.E.2480, A.D.1937. price 1,00 $".Biography: Pha Maha Chansuk Panyapachoto was born in 1908 in Luang Prabang. In 1929 he was ordinated as a monk. In 1935 he was sent to Phanom Penh, Cambodia with Pha Maha Khamphan Sumanaphuto from Vat Pa Fang and Pha Maha Uan Virasi from Vat Vixunnarat for Buddhist studies. When they came back to Lunag Prabang, he taught at Buddhist Pali school of Luang Prabang and then in the 1940s he decided to disrobe and became Maha Chansuk Rattanabovone (see photograph No. F6501 & F6527) as a layman. He got married with Mrs. Vaen (see photograph No. F6528) at Ban Aphai and had a family there, they had 7 children such as : Mrs. Chanpheng, Mr. Chanthi, Mr. Phummi, Mrs. Chansi, Mrs. Chanthone, Mrs. Laddamone and Mr. Sunthone . He worked as secretary at official office of Luang Prabang city hall for many years. And then he was appointed the chief of district of Meuang Kasi, Nambak, Meuang Ngoi and before Pathet Lao revolution he was appointed the chief of district of Phongsali, Phongsali province. After revolution he came back to Luang Prabang and stayed with his family at Ban Aphai village. He died in 1986. (information from Mr. Sunthone at Ban Aphai village, the last son of Maha Chansuk).
