Meditation [1994]

Sathou Onkeo Kittiphattho, Abbot of Vat Pak Khan, at the age of 30, meditating at Phouphasath near Vat Haad Siaw during practicing Vipassana Kammathan (Insight-meditation or contemplation) at Vat Haad Siaw, Xieng Maen village, Chompheth District, Luang Prabang in 1994.Vat Haad Siaw used to be the insight-meditation or contemplation temple between 1910 to 1940 of The Sangharat Dhammayana Mahathera (Bounthan Boupharat), the Supreme Patriarch of Kingdom of Laos before he moved to Vat Mai Souvannaphoumaram. Vat Haad Siaw now is the empty temple because there is any monks and novices live there.In 1993, Sathou Phor Sisouphanh Sirivanno (Virachit), a younger brother of Sathou Nyai Khamchanh Virachitta Mahathera, Abbot of Vat Saen Sukharam, and monks and novices, and the viilagers of Ban Nakham repaired this temple, and improved this temple to be the place for insight-meditation or contemplation temple because it is the most peaceful and suitable place, and he also sculptured the Buddha image in this temple for being sacred place for the lay people. After he finished to repair this temple he suggested the monks and novices go to practice Vipassana Kammathan (Insight-meditation or contemplation) at there, and he also suggested the lay people to make merit and pracetice Vipassana Kammathan at there for a while, but unfortunately, he was very ill and passed away in 1994 at Vat Saen Sukharam. Some people believed that the Giant who protected Vat Haad Siaw killed him.
