Buddhist ceremony [1965]

When the Naga (the candidate for the ordination) finishes his praying of the ordination chant, the preceptor will preach about purpose and meaning of the ordination. He also will tell five considerations (hair, skin, teeth, finger and toe nails, and tongue) to the Naga. Then he will put the monk's robe on the Naga's neck and asks the Naga to wear the monk's robe, getting helped by two monks. This photograph shows the ordination ceremony of Phia Hatsakaud (Ajan Thongdee) at Vat Saen Sukharam in 1965. The Sangharaj Dhammayana Mahathera was the preceptor.
