The eighteen elbows Buddha statue is located at Vat Saen Sukharam. The reason that we called "The eighteen elbows Buddha statue" because the Buddha statue is eighteen elbows height. It was built in C.E. 1738, and it was 234 years in C.E. 1972 and it was very shabby. It was repaired in C.E. 1972 by Sathou Nyai Khamchan Virachitta Mahathera (1920-2007), the abbot of Vat Saen Sukharam, and it had been built for 8 years, and it was completed in 1980. It is the most beautiful and the biggest standing Buddha statue in Luang Prabang.This photo was taken in 1970.
