This collection contains the complete photographic archive of Star Studio which was opened in 1896 in Wellington, Nilgiri Hills. T.M.Subramania Pillai is the tailor, photographer and founder of this studio. He passed away in 1913 and presently the studio is run by Vijayakumar. The photographic material includes: glass plate materials dated from 1896. The original location of each image is reflected in each digital file name. This collection contains 259 images, from 99 glass plates and 160 negatives including indoor, studio and outdoor portraits. This collection contains 2 series: 99 glass plates, including 2 indoor, 85 outdoor and 12 studio photographs. And negatives of 3 indoor, 154 outdoor and 3 studio portraits.
Custodial history: The material was held by Vijayakumar, current owner of Star Studio. Presently the material is kept with him.
