The Music Teachers' School (Musiki Muallim Mektebi), nowadays known as the Ankara State Conservatory, was the first conservatory of the Republic of Turkey and its collection holds photographs, inter-institutional correspondence, and the student’s application documents between 1925-1956. By covering the first half of the 20th century, the collection is comprised of documents including letters, correspondence, documents, photographs, envelopes, and telegrams.
Günümüzde Ankara Devlet Konservatuarı olarak bilinen Müzik Öğretmen Okulu (Musiki Muallim Mektebi), Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin ilk konservatuvarı olup, bu koleksiyonda 1925-1956 yıllarını kapsayan fotoğraflar, kurumlar arası yazışmalar ve öğrenci başvuru belgeleri bulunmaktadır. Koleksiyon, 20. yüzyılın ilk yarısını kapsayan mektup, yazışma, belge, fotoğraf, zarf ve telgraf gibi dokümanlardan oluşmaktadır.
Custodial history: The creator of archival materials was Established in 1924 and as being one of the first state conservatories in the early period of the Turkey Republic, “Musiki Muallim Mektebi” (Music Teacher’s School) with its current name “Ankara State Conservatory”. These archival materials were found by chance during the cleaning works carried out in the warehouses. Archival materials were purchased from the Siyah Kalem Bibliopole in May 2014. The materials have become an essential part of the archive with the completion of the purchasing process.
Arrangement: The materials in the collection are classified according to the date of creation. Archival materials are separated according to years.Each year represents a different series. The files in the series are not in order of years in themselves. Each file only shows integrity in itself. The classification was made by an archive specialist.
