ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱི་ཕ་རོལ་ཏུ་ཕྱིན་པ་ཁྲི་བརྒྱད་སྟོང་པ་

The Khri brgyad stong pa, or Perfection of Wisdom in Eighteen Thousand Lines, is one of the most revered versions of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras, widely recognized throughout the Himalayan world. As part of the Prajnaparamitasutras, these texts are among the most significant scriptures in Mahayana Buddhism, exploring the concept of the emptiness of all phenomena. Followers of Mahayana regard them as the Buddha’s own words, while modern historians suggest they were composed between the first century BC and the second century CE. These sutras serve as the foundational teachings of the Middle Way, which became deeply influential in Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhist traditions. In this collection, the Khri brgyad stong pa is presented in three volumes, each in the traditional loose poti format. The content is beautifully inscribed in uchen script with black ink on cream-colored Bhutanese handmade paper. The first page of each volume is particularly striking, written in gold ink on dark blue paper, with two miniature depictions of the Buddha gracefully adorning the margins. These artistic details highlight the craftsmanship and devotion that went into its creation. Preserved as a sacred relic, this collection is stored on traditional wooden bookshelves within the temple. Each volume is carefully wrapped in multiple layers of cloth and protected by two wooden boards, securely fastened with a string, ensuring the safekeeping of these precious texts for generations to come.
