ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱི་ཕ་རོལ་ཏུ་ཕྱིན་པ་སྟོང་ཕྲག་བརྒྱད་པ་

The brGyad stong pa, or Perfection of Wisdom in Eight Thousand Lines, is the most renowned version among the Perfection of Wisdom sutras. As a concise rendition of the complete Prajnaparamitasutras, it holds a central place in the Kanjur and is often published independently in ornate, illuminated manuscripts. These sutras, which address the profound concept of the emptiness of all phenomena, are considered the Buddha’s words by Mahayana followers. Modern historians trace their composition to the period between the first century BC and the second century CE. They form the core of teachings on the Middle Way, gaining widespread popularity throughout the Tibetan and Himalayan regions. In this collection, the brGyad stong pa is presented in a single volume, following the traditional poti format. The content is meticulously inscribed in uchen script with black ink on cream-colored Bhutanese handmade paper. The first page of the volume is particularly striking, written in gold ink on dark blue paper and adorned with two miniature depictions of the Buddha along the margins. These artistic details reflect the devotion and craftsmanship invested in its creation. Preserved as a sacred relic, this manuscript is carefully safeguarded within the traditional bookshelves in the temple. Protected by multiple layers of cloth and shielded by two wooden boards, it is securely tied with a belt, ensuring its enduring preservation.
