The ’Dul ba or Vinaya corpus of the Kanjur centers on monastic discipline, outlining the establishment of laws and codes for monastics, guidance for ethical conduct, procedures for addressing violations along with corresponding penalties or methods of atonement, and the practices essential for those pursuing the path to liberation. In the Talangkha Kanjur, the ’Dul ba consists of 12 volumes in the traditional poti format. Each volume is exquisitely inscribed in uchen script with black ink on cream-colored Bhutanese handmade paper. The first page of every volume is particularly striking, written in gold ink on dark blue paper and adorned with two miniature depictions of the Buddha, elegantly placed along the margins. These artistic details reflect the deep devotion and craftsmanship invested in its creation. Regarded as a sacred relic, the ’Dul ba is housed with great care on traditional wooden bookshelves within the temple. Each volume is meticulously wrapped in layers of cloth and shielded by two wooden boards, securely tied with string. This attentive preservation underscores the profound reverence for the ’Dul ba, safeguarding its sanctity and ensuring its enduring legacy for future generations.
