The content tells Mahā Moggallāna tortured Nandopananda, the nāga king who had power, but wrong view. On one occasion, the Buddha with his disciples travelled to Tavatimsa, passing above the mansion of Nandopananda, the nāga king. When he saw them, he became angry and played his power. The Buddha ordered Mahā Moggallāna to subdue him. Mahā Moggallāna changed his body into that of a great nāga, and then, both of them appeared fighting. But Nandopananda was unable to overcome the venerable, so he gave up and realized his mistake and changed his original body into a young man. Mahā Moggallāna thus brought the young man to see the Buddha and listened to the Buddha's sermon until he became faithful and respect the Triple Gem since then. Colophon: Folio 36 on the verso side: Chunlasangkatrasa (CS) 1299, a poek nyi year, on the fifteenth day of the waxing moon of the second lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The initiator, Rattanapannya sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Nanthopananthasut (Nandopananda Sutta) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
