Pathamasambodhi, or Pathamasambodhikathā, or Pathomsomphot is one of the Buddhist literatures widespread in Southeast Asia, presents the story of Gotama Buddha in details, starts from the occurrence of the Sakya family, through the royal marriage between King Suddhodana, the Buddha’s father and Queen Sirimahamaya, the Buddha’s mother, the Bodhisattva descended from Tusita heaven to the womb of his mother, the birth of the Bodhisattva, royal coronation and ordination, enlightenment, proclamation of Buddhism by setting the wheel of the Dhamma in motion, preaching the seven scriptures of the Abhidhamma to his mother in the heaven of Tavatimsa in return, the passing away and the distribution of the relics. Colophon: Folio 23 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa (CS) 1215, a ka pao year, on the eighth day of the waning moon of the eighth lunar month, a hwai nyi day, the third day of the week (Tuesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Mother of Prince Khampheng had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Lam Pathamasamphot (Pathamasambodhi) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
