Sòng dòk mai means the merit derived from worshiping flowers and fragrant to the Buddha. On one occasion, while the Buddha was dwelling in the Jetavanna monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha delivered a sermon to monks. The Buddha said that those who have the religious faith worship the Triple Gem with the Buddha as the first with flowers and fragrant will attain the three stages of happiness such as the happiness in the human world, heavenly world and Nirvana. Moreover, to worship the Buddha will gain power; to worship the Dhamma will gain wisdom, and to worship the Sangha will gain wealthiness.
