Sòng khao chi means the merit derived from offering khao chi (grilled sticky rice) to monks. On one occasion, while the Buddha was dwelling in the Jetavanna Monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha delivered a sermon to King Pasenadi who approached him and asked him about the merit derived from making a fire and offering khao chi to monks during the winter. The Buddha related that one who has the religious faith makes a fire and offers khao chi to monks. After death, the person will be reborn in Tavatimsa heaven along with the divine property and live there for long. After the heaven, the person will be reborn in the human world again. He will be wealthy, powerful, wise, repute and have many servants. He will never go to the hell.
