The content tells the power of Metteyya Sutta. Once, the Buddha spoke to Venerable Sariputta that aftef 5000 years of his Teachings, the people will become more jearous. They will kill each other. That time is called kaliyuka (chaos) or dark age. By the power of this Metteyyasut, whoever listened to it, written it by himself, or hired someone else to write it for him, memorised it, taught it to others, worshiped and respected it, will be free from all sufferings and dangers. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat 20016 (corresponding with 1216), a kap nyi year, the ninth day of the waning moon of the tenth lunar month, the sixth day of the week (Friday), a kot myi day, the writing was accomplished at the time of tut sai (between 12.00–13.30 o’clock). Pha (Monk) Khanan Inthapannya had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Mettainyasut to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May my wishes and desires come true. May we reach the three states of happiness with Nibbāna as the ultimate gaol. May our wishes not be ignored. Amen, amen! Certainly and constantly, the greatest bliss. May we reach Nibbāna. May our wishes not be ignored. Amen, amen! I rejoice. Pha (Monk) Khanan Tissapannya is the scribe. May I share with much merit. My handwriting is not beautiful and not on the straight line. Please do not blame and lough at me, dear monks. My hands were rigid not fit with the stylus.
