The content tells Venerable Sona Thera and Venerable Uttara Thera were appointed as the eighth missionary to spread the Buddha’s teachings in the region of Suvannaphum or Southeast Asia. When they both arrived in Suvannaphum, they found out that there was a water-demon which was a giant who made the people scared. Because the giant loved to eat children as food. So, two Venerables subdued the giant and encouraged the people by preaching Brahmajala Sutta. Later, the people became faithful in the Buddha’s teachings. They vowed to the Triple Gem as a refuge, observed the five precepts. they brought their children to be ordained as monks or novices. Since then, Buddhism has been established in the region of Suvannaphum and flourished until present.
