The content tells the story of King Asoka who killed all his older and younger half-brothers and became the king of Pataliputta in BE 218. One day, the king saw Novice Nigrodha who was a noble one with good manner and personality. He called the novice and asked for his preaching. The novice spoke to the king on the teachings of the Buddha, he said, “Heedfulness is the way to the deathless, heedlessness is the way to death.” After listening, the king had the ardent faith in the teaching and converted him to Buddhism since then.
