Thammabot or Dhammapada with the whole text written in Pali means a word of the doctrine is the name of a scripture of Suttanta Pitaka Khuddaka Nikaya. The Dhammapadas are the Buddhist proverbs that the Buddha said to different people, different deeds, different agendas, and different places. They are short words of the doctrine in the form of verses composed as poems. Each of the Dhammapadas is the truth and is the immortal speech of the Buddha. There are 423 verses in the Dhammapada; if counted as the stories that the Buddha talked about, there are 302 stories. Every verse in the Dhammapada is important. It is used as a guideline for doing good deeds, it will benefit as desired. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat hundred 74 (corresponding with CS 1174), a tao san year, the fullmoon day of the nineth lunar month, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), a hwai set day. Achan Tai and his wife, along with their children had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Pali thammabot, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition to reach Nibbāna.
